Week 8: One Small Change
Walking through hard seasons changes you. It asks more of you than you ever thought you could give, but sometimes on the other side you realize you kept going anyway.
A year ago, my life looked very different. Today, I am in a stable, salaried position, building a life that finally feels grounded. That shift did not happen all at once. It came through small, consistent changes over many, many years. Showing up, asking for help, and choosing growth even when it felt uncomfortable.
This is something Atomic Habits speaks to so well. The quiet power of incremental progress. Real change rarely comes from one defining moment. While there was a moment that inspired me to commit to change, what truly made the difference was what came after. Steady effort, reflection, and the support of others over time led me to a place of independence and self-trust that once felt out of reach.
Lately, I have noticed the results in ways that matter most. I have been able to show up fully present for my daughter, with confidence and calm. That feeling, the quiet knowing that I can be the parent I want to be, means everything.
As a teacher, I think a lot about what truly helps people thrive. Perseverance matters, but so do community and safety. No one succeeds alone. Living in this age of technology gives me hope. When used thoughtfully, it can expand access, remove barriers, and open doors for people who have historically been excluded.
Small steps. Strong support systems. A belief that growth is possible.
That is how real change happens.
